It is a formation belonging to the Prebaetic Systems, specifically to la Serra de la Safor and its summit is the highest point of the region. It has a great importance in its flora given that being sheltered, many unique endemic species have appeared.

El Circ has the shape of a nearby mountainous amphitheatre close to Vilallonga, originated by erosion from a meander of the Serpis River. El circ de la Safor is about 800 m from the base to the top where you can see the famous “finestra” of la Safor. The sinking of this kind of circ of great proportions is due to the slow erosion caused by the Serpis river, and to the stratigraphic constitution of the northern slope of la Serra de La Safor, considered as a SCI, where layers of not very consistent rocks alternate (clays and other sedimentary rocks) with others formed by limestones, more resistant, but of a scarce thickness.

In addition to all this, there are the steep slopes, the fact that the Serpis river follows a type of tectonic fracture and, above all, the fact that the mountain of La Safor faces north, with which the rainfall and the possibility of erosion are always greater than on the slopes that face south.
